“Imagine magnificent scenery, vast landscapes and a calm that is hard to find anywhere else.”
"From the beginning I hadn't planned to move as soon, but in June 2024 I took the step. And now?
I never want to return!
"You can go to business without much traffic. It is safe and safe for young people and children to grow up in.
So far I have not felt the need to move back.
Are you from a country in the EU, EEA and Switzerland?
Career
As an EU/EEA citizen, you have the right to start working or studying immediately after you arrive in Sweden.
If you plan to work in an area that requires academic qualifications, you may need to receive these recognized by the University and College Council. If you are educated in health care within the EU/EEA, you must apply for a license on the social board.se.
In the EU/EEA, training programmes for the following professions have been harmonised: doctors, dentists, pharmacists, nurse and midwife. This means that the EU has set a minimum level of educational content and that these professional qualifications can generally be recognised automatically. If a profession has not been harmonised, the Swedish National Board of Health and Welfare will compare the education and professional experience of the country you studied with the profession in Sweden. If it is determined that there are no significant differences, they will recognize your professional qualifications, and if not, you must undertake practical training or a test to obtain your professional qualifications recognised.
Two of our municipalities, Lycksele and Malå, have the opportunity to offer EURES services and can provide information about the Targeted Mobilty Scheme.
Learn more about the Targeted Mobilty Schedule here.
For more detailed information about working in Sweden as an EU/EEA citizen, you can visit the Swedish Migration Agency website.

Studies
Are you planning to move from another EU/EEA country to study in Sweden?
As an EU/EEA citizen, you do not need a residence permit or visa to study in Sweden. You have so-called right of residence, which means you can move here and start studying without having to apply for a special permit.
To apply for higher education in Sweden, visit studyinsweden.se. The website guides you through everything you need to know; from how the application process works to what financial support is available.
You do not have to pay application or tuition fees as EU/EEA nationals.
If you plan to study in an area that requires academic qualifications, you may need to receive these recognized by the University and College Council. This is especially true if you have a health care education.
Our municipalities offer many educational opportunities for students of all ages. There are everything from primary schools, high schools, adult education and higher education through Campus Lycksele and other learning centers.
Accommodation
As an EU citizen, you have the right to live and work in Sweden without the need for a residence permit. However, it is important to register your address with the Swedish Tax Agency and to apply for a social security number if you plan to stay longer than one year.
Many residential agencies require you to have a social security number in order to rent or buy a home. The Swedish Tax Agency may also receive a temporary social security number, a so-called Coordination Number, which works similarly. It may be good if you will not live in Sweden for an entire year or if you redeem accommodation before moving to Sweden.
In some cases, it is possible to sign contracts on rental property even without personal identity numbers. Contact one of our influential pilots for more information.
Are you from a country outside the EU, EEA and Switzerland?
Accommodation
When you come from a country outside the EU, the EEA and Switzerland, a residence permit is required to live and work in Sweden. Once you have a residence permit, you can choose to arrange your accommodation yourself. This may involve renting or buying a home. It is important to register your address with the Swedish Tax Agency and apply for a social security number if you plan to stay for more than a year.
