Perhaps it is rather the village life that attracts, one of the many scenic places in our vast municipality. You will not have to commute forever. The Closeness of Small Town and Nature
When we say "welcome to Sorsele!" or "love Sorsele!" we mean with Sorsele all the places in the geographical area that make up Sorsele municipality and not just the central town of Sorsele.
We are not so many people living here. Among the smallest in Sweden in population, in the middle of Lapland. It has its advantages and its disadvantages, but its advantages include Sorsele’s core being the people who live here, all the villages and villagers, the genuineness and the presence. It is a place to fall for and people to care about.
The generous Gargnäs, actionable Blattnicksele and warm-hearted Ammarnäs is a kind of central resort in its own right – the center for making it self-spirit and much will, from the mountains of the west to heaven and water in the southeast. These are also designated service locations where there will be some municipal service on site.
So what does Sorsele mean is a small name in a big place? Sorsele is so much more than just the organization, authority and employer Sorsele Municipality, or the small central town of Sorsele.
Sorsele is also huge to the surface and would accommodate Uppsala, Malmö, Stockholm and the municipalities of Gothenburg within its borders and have everything from mountains to forest country. The free flowing WIND and the pristine mountain areas. The geography is, simply, large-scale. In Sorsele there are free surfaces, the roadless country and the magnificent nature.

If you ask a family of children who reside in the municipality what is best about living here, it is likely the safety they highlight.
They also appreciate the possibility of changing a part of everyday life – getting the life puzzle together in a different way. We have the place for those who want to scale down on stress, who are looking for a sustainable lifetime and who want to let your children be a little longer.
Entrepreneurial skills such as creativity and flexibility in children and young people are important to us and therefore we have a strong partnership with Young Business and the school works with a red thread through elementary school.

We are a municipality with fantastic opportunities for nature and cultural experiences beyond the ordinary.
The municipality has a rich association life, an active population that appreciates time in nature as well as a great variety of activities, both nonprofit and professional. Here it is easy to exercise many interests such as hunting, fishing, skiing, hiking and cycling, and there are all opportunities for recreation, movement and adventure.
Over half of the municipality’s surface is protected and to the most noticeable areas belongs to the high alpine areas of Vindelfjällen, the mountainous prime woods of Upper Juktådalen and of course all the fine excursions around the municipality, suitable for both families with children and adventurers.
Together we create a viable municipality
In Sorsele municipality, unemployment is very low. In fact, it is screaming for labor. The labour market in Sorsele municipality consists of many different types of jobs and career opportunities, ranging from culture and hospitality to wood production and trade.
Business is an important employer and many residents in the municipality have chosen to create their own employment.
There is a great commitment to Sorseleborna and many have chosen to start their own business. Among the largest employers in the municipality can be mentioned industries such as wood processing, transportation and construction. In the private sector there are several smaller and larger employers who also need skills and workforce.
There are many small companies with an enormous level of service where we are great and all helped – together we create a viable municipality!
Sorsele municipality currently employs approximately 400 people. This includes everything from project work to childcare and part-time firefighters and makes us the municipality’s largest employer.
