Where people and roads meet
The story is the place where people and roads meet. This is where you find the gateway to the mountain world and the key to the Heart of Lapland. Storuman is beautifully embedded in the heart of powerful forest landscapes and wonderful mountain areas.
Communications
Geographically located Strategically located, in the middle of the hub between two European roads, E12 and E45 and two railroads. Storuman and Hemavan Tärnaby have good communications both from the North Coast, North Norway and the southern parts of Sweden. Flights from Arlanda to Hemavan.

A learning experience in a safe environment
There is an opportunity to study wherever you are. We have primary school, high school, learning center, SFI and Folkhögskola. Through the Learning Centre you have great opportunities to get help when reading remotely, for example, a university. We actively work with training at all levels that harmonize the municipality’s labour market and skills needs.
To provide good conditions for living and operating throughout the municipality, we have childcare in six different locations, Gunnarn, Stensele, Storuman, Slussfors, Tärnaby and Hemavan. Here are preschool, educational care and school childcare. Our goal is for all children to have a safe and educational growth.

Shut down the slopes that fostered world stars
In our municipality there is much to see and experience, both for those who make a day visit and for those who stay for several days. If you live in the municipality, there are a lot of smultron places around the knot.
We have a rich natural life here. You can, among other things, hike one of the hiking trails, fish, enjoy a good cup of coffee at one of our cafes, or take a trip with scooters up the calf mountain.
If you like skiing, you can challenge yourself in one of our fine ski tracks where stars like Björn Ferry have built up their stamina.
For those who like to throw you down a piste, there is the opportunity to trick down the slopes that fostered world stars like Ingemar Stenmark, Anja Pärson and Jens Byggmark.
Activities and events
The municipality is sevenths of activities and the association life is strongly rooted. The non-profit forces are an important part of the municipality’s development and there are about 130 different associations here. On the municipality’s website there is an event calendar that is updated continuously.
Some of the municipality’s major events include the Storuman Days and the Danish Gala, always the weekend after midsummer.
