When the Norwegians themselves liked why this village is so good to live, live and work in, an expression has come back again and again: The best everyday life in the world. A lovingly cocky expression that evokes curiosity and puts your finger on something very important: If the whole year – yes, the whole of life – consists mainly of weekdays, then Norsjöbygden has something to offer that builds pride with us who already live here and awakens the longing of those who want a life puzzle and everyday life.
What do we mean by everyday life? We mean every day, weekdays as holidays. The best of the world was a day.
We all dream about that holiday week, that breathtaking weekend or that shopping trip to some exciting big city. We also Norwegians. But then it’s nice to know that when Monday comes, we have a head start. It is close to everything that is important in everyday life. The community, the possibilities, nature and the ingredients of a healthy, sustainable life.
Service and community functions
Much of Norsjöbygden’s service is collected in Norsjö. Here you will find school, shops, bank, health centre, folk dental care, elderly care, leisure farm, library and more.
To Norsjö, you can easily get by bus, with connections that work well even if the pace is a bit calmer than in larger cities. If you prefer trains, you’ll get off in Bastuträsk – our largest resort after Norsjö – where you’ll find both service, as a business, preschool and elderly care, and a live association life with more than you might first expect.
Community and context
Norsjöbygden is a place characterized by forward spirit, driving force and development in the middle of Västerbotten’s hinterland, with close proximity to both coast and mountain. The year round there is the possibility of outdoor life both on land and water. Our, summer and autumn you can swim, paddle, ride boat, fish, visit excursions, hike or use exercise tracks. Winter time offers snow and ice opportunities for winter fishing, skiing, both performing and in length and skating.
Nature and an active leisure life
Norsjöbygden has a rich and active association where nonprofit engagement and entrepreneurship together create activities and experiences for all ages. This includes everything from motor associations and sports associations to religious communities and consumer clubs – a diversity that contributes to both community and memories of life. It is easy to find both community and new contexts.
Culture and Events
Norsjöbygden is famous for its village demuses that remind us of the life and traditions that came with the settlers who settled in the area. Several cultural activities are organised during the summer, such as the General Meeting in Fromheden, home-grown days in Bastuträsk and Norsjödag, which is arranged in the rural area of Norsjö.
Sports also contributes to many events throughout the year. The largest is Norsjö Beach – a beach volleyball tournament played on the first weekend of August and attracts many activities around.
