Many of the services in the Norsjö area are concentrated in the town of Norsjö. Here you’ll find schools, stores, a bank, a health center, public dental care, senior care, a youth center, a library, and more.
You can easily get to Norsjö by bus; the service runs smoothly, even if the pace is a bit slower than in larger cities. If you prefer the train, get off at Bastuträsk—our largest town after Norsjö—where you’ll find amenities such as a store, preschool, and senior care, as well as a vibrant community life with more to offer than you might initially expect.

In winter, the snow and ice offer opportunities for ice fishing, downhill and cross-country skiing, and ice skating.

The Norsjö region is known for its local museums, which remind us of the way of life and traditions brought by the settlers who made their homes in the area. A number of cultural activities are organized during the summer, such as a folk music festival in Fromheden, local heritage days in Bastuträsk, and Norsjö Day, which is held at the local heritage site in Norsjö.
Sports also feature in many events throughout the year. The biggest is Norsjö Beach—a beach volleyball tournament held the first weekend in August that attracts visitors with a variety of activities in the surrounding area.
