10 inland municipalities working together
Region 10 is a collaborative model for 10 inland municipalities in northern Sweden, comprising the municipalities of Arjeplog, Arvidsjaur, Dorotea, Lycksele, Malå, Norsjö, Sorsele, Storumans, Vilhelmina, and Åsele.
“Region 10 aims to strengthen the role and development of the municipalities in Norrbotten and Västerbotten, as well as nationally and internationally. Another goal is to enhance the municipalities’ appeal and foster growth. This, in turn, leads to increased prosperity and improved living environments for residents, visitors, and those working in the municipalities.”

" Move Up North
Move Up North began as a project to develop services for new residents and foster collaboration among 10 municipalities in Sweden’s northern inland region.
Project Owner: Sorsele Municipality
Participating municipalities: Arjeplog, Arvidsjaur, Dorotea, Lycksele, Malå, Norsjö, Sorsele, Storumans, Vilhelmina, and Åsele.
The project will run from 2024 to 2026.
Co-funders: The European Union’s European Social Fund (ESF+), the Västerbotten Region, the Norrbotten Region, and participating municipalities.
The project is intended to enhance the region’s capacity in various ways to attract skilled newcomers, to make information available about Region 10 as a place to live and work, and to increase the region’s appeal, which will benefit both those who already live and work in our municipalities and those moving here from elsewhere.
The project will enable a functional newcomer service in every municipality that can, for example, provide information about the job market, explain what it’s like to live in the municipality, introduce newcomers to the municipality, and refer them to various relevant contacts. The project will also work at the national and international levels to increase awareness of the municipalities, including through a shared website, www.moveupnorth.se, and by participating in trade fairs, such as the Emigratiebeurs in the Netherlands.
