Norr-Don in Åmliden expands and seeks employees with other native languages
Måns Marklund is the new CEO of Norr-Don, a company specializing in automation and power distribution solutions for heavy industry. He sees positively that the company, which is in an expansive phase towards an international market, has begun hiring staff with native languages other than Swedish. And more are needed.
Norr-Don CEO Marklund comes from a position as senior business developer at a consulting company in Stockholm. At the time of writing, he has been on the CEO for a month. He has extensive experience in business development and has worked extensively with intangible assets such as patents and brands. Over the years, he has held several management roles and also run his own companies, giving him a broad perspective and many contacts with previous customers in Norr and Västerbotten. He has long been curious about Norr-Don in the village of Åmliden, Norsjö municipality. The CEO describes Norr-Don as a small, well-managed company with a straight and simple corporate culture.
"It is a company with super talented employees and a really good work environment. What attracted me here was the opportunity to work with such skilled people in an exciting industry that evolves all the time.
Norr-Don works with customized solutions in automation and power distribution. What does it really mean?
"We tailor technical solutions that help our customers to streamline and automate their operations. It can be anything from control systems for different machines in mines to electrical installations such as electricity centers and different cabinets on machines, explains the CEO.
Many of our customers are in the mining industry and other heavy industries. Historically, the company has evolved from manufacturing outlet centers at the start in 1986 to help customers with advanced control and automation, such as robots and rigs. They work with special solutions, as well as have their own production of different products, such as machine cabinets and electricity centers in mines or for controlling pumps for energy efficient operation.
"We offer broad solutions and are with the customer all the way from shoulder to limp. From planning and installation to how the machines and products are used on site, to make everything work properly.
Large need for electricians
Currently, Norr-Don has around 20 employees and needs to hire more electricians and fitters. They also need to hire engineers and programmers who can develop the products. Foreign background is an asset, and they have already hired a handful of employees with other native languages, especially English and German. The requirement is to speak English, which will be an advantage when Norr-Don invests more internationally in the future.
"I’ve just met a couple of new employees a little short, but it works great and as long as they have the technical skills, we only look positively at bringing people with other backgrounds and experiences. They can contribute new ideas and ideas that can help develop the company," says the CEO.
The mining industry is international and we are in a position where we can offer our products to a market outside the Nordic countries.
Above all, it is Norr-Don’s special solutions and products that can fit an international market.
"At the moment, we mainly need different types of electricians, a fun and varied job.

Quality of life and comfort
If you want to work at Norr-Don, the company can help arrange homes and other things that you need as a new one. They can also refer to the municipality’s influential pilots, which can be a good support on the road.
"We are happy to help you feel welcome with us and in Norsjö. We will educate new employees internally, primarily on the assembly side, and of course make sure that those who start to thrive, get good accommodation and a good living environment.
In Norsjö there are also good opportunities to find accommodation at a favorable price, says Måns, who lives in Stockholm where he has his family. However, he regularly commutes to Norsjö where he appreciates the proximity to nature and the pleasant local community.
"I think it’s a great initiative with the Move Up North project and we’re delighted to be able to help and also get help finding new staff now that we grow. And common goals feel great!
