Christian Christian Christian Christian Lapland Hunting & Game, Dorotea:
"Lappland is the region of opportunity."
Dorotea, which is marketed as the south-port of Lapland, is the five-minute community with everything at arm’s length. That’s what attracted Christians. Not here in the early nineties. For many years he has lived his dream as a hunting and fishing guide with many recurring regular customers.
Christian Christian Christian Christian Ek is originally from Korsholm, a coronary municipality to Vaasa in Finnish Österbotten. During the training to Viltmaster at home in Finland, he performed his internships at a hunting and fishing camp in Dorotea. He enjoyed it so well that in 1997 he decided to stay. Pretty quickly, he received summer jobs as a rapper on the inland track, and during the hunting season he worked as an employee hunting and fishing guide. For several years, he interspersed various summer jobs with guide jobs before starting his first hunting and fishing company in 2007. Since then, Christian has been able to support his own business, a step he has not regretted.
The company Lappland Hunting & Game offers accommodation packages with mainly guided small game hunting and fishing. Customers are mainly business groups and buddies and come almost out of Scandinavia. With many recurring regular customers, he barely needs to market himself and has the luxury problem with greater demand than capacity.
"The only negative thing about making my leisure interest a job is that I don’t have so much of my own hunt. But I get so much out of offering this to others so it’s not a problem.

People have time to talk
Dorotea, with its approximately 2300 inhabitants, is one of Sweden’s smallest municipalities, a title they usually share with Bjurholm. The proximity and tranquility were what attracted Christian to the small community far from the big city. In Korsholm near the metropolitan town of Vasa, he felt a stress and prestige that is usually connected to life in a larger city, which was not Christian’s thing.
I was tired of stress. When friends started building houses and that would be a certain standard, I felt that it didn’t have to be so complicated, I could settle for much less.
Christian noticed that stress disappeared when he arrived at Dorotea. They talked to each other and spent the generations.
In Dorotea, I noticed that people had time to stay and talk. I was impressed with the small community where you helped and everyone talked to everyone. If I was wrong with the car, I was used to having to book a service two weeks in advance. Here you got help at once.
No queues at the grocery store
In addition to the proximity to nature and the opportunity to work with their biggest interests, the idea attracted walking distance to all service from the parking lot in the centre.
There are never any queues here. If there are more than three customers in the ICA Casa Island, they will open the cash register two, says Christian, who during the first years as a seasonal hunting and fishing guide during the summer season had various jobs; from construction to forest inventories and municipal jobs. He and his wife also drove the shop Sport & Leisure in Dorotea for 12 years, and had two sons, now adults. Dorotea has been a quiet and safe place to form a family. The course and school are wonderful and personal. Things you now appreciate during the troubled world situation, according to Christian who today has a special residence in Finland, an approach that works well, according to both.
Christian is active in the association He just made his second year as president. At the moment, the association is investing heavily in relationship building between various supporting actors, including the municipality. Impact work also has a high priority for creating a good business environment.
"There are jobs in Dorotea if you want to work, we have many successful companies. For example, look at Polar, which is one of the largest employers and still makes its caravans here for many years.
Cooperation and engagement
If you want to start your own, Christian tends to first work a few years to get to know the industry.
It has helped me a lot. I learned a lot over the years as an employee. At the same time, because of the industry, if you are engaged, you can create anything, says Christian and take the example of Truxor, a vass clipper invented just in Dorotea, which is now used across Europe to cut vases on beaches and wetlands.
An example of how to help in Dorotea is his cooperation with other actors. Primarily, he collaborates with Doro Camp Lapland for accommodation and food to guests but also takes the help of other guides in larger group bookings. Christian arrenders the land he has hunting rights on behalf of forest actor SCA.
In addition to business issues, he is committed to the Dorotea community at large.
"Dorotea is close to my heart and I want us to live as we do. One way is to influence business through entrepreneurs. A strong business community provides jobs and it makes us attractive even to young people and people who may want to move here.
