"I am delighted to be there for our citizens."

Lotta Åman works as a nurse at Arvidsjaur Health Centre – a job she enjoys. The best part about her job is the meeting with the patients.

Arvidsjaur’s health centre has a 24/7 emergency intake with ambulance intake and doctors in readiness. The device has six own care facilities for patients who need to be observed or inserted. The geographic location means that it is 13 miles to the nearest hospital. The health center is part of a psychosocial team in the hinterland, illuminated with among others Älvsbyn.

"I get to meet many patients, which is a lot of fun," says Lotta, who spends a lot of work time in the lab at the health center in Arvidsjaur. Being there for patients in adversity and adversity is something that makes the work meaningful.

"I meet a lot of people who have difficulty and sometimes I need to take the time to listen to their history, which I do with empathy and caring. I am happy to be there for our citizens.

Broken background

Lotta was born in Harads, Norrbotten, then became Älvsbyn, Ullånger before the family landed in Arvidsjaur in 1977.

"This is because of my father’s work and that my situation in Ullånger became unsustainable, as I was both mentally and physically bullied, making my parents decide to move to Arvidsjaur where my father had his roots.

Previously Lotta worked in many different professional areas, such as newspaper bids, waitress, cleaners, leisure leaders and preschool. She trained as a nurse and then as a specialist nurse for multi-sick patients.

Lotta has been married to her husband for 32 years, and the couple has a displaced son. They live in a villa with their own bakery cottage on the plot. In leisure, Lotta bakes and evenings when the couple is free together, cooking for the whole slante becomes.

"It’s something we both like a lot," says Lotta.

Promising labour market

During the study, the Lot to live in the larger town of Skellefteå, which she didn’t enjoy in the long run.

"I am not a city dweller, I find it too stressful. I want to get close to work that I have today with seven minutes to work on a bike. The best thing about living in Arvidsjaur is calm, with close to everything and magical nature with everything it means.

The job market for health professionals looks promised in Arvidsjaur, says Lotta, and she can really recommend others who are looking to work at Arvidsjaur Health Centre.

"If you’re interested in moving here, it may be good to try new and not be afraid of it," she says.
